I have just logged on to our site for the first time in days and what do I find?!!! Hold your fire!!!!

My first impulse was to delete these threads regarding history vs entertainment/north vs south/Lincoln vs Lee ...

In light of the excellent topics that are contained within these threads, coupled with the fact that they've been read by so many already, I've decided to leave them as is ... for the moment. BUT, I must remind everyone that we insist upon civility on this board! There is absolutely no reason such stimulating topics can not be discussed & debated without resorting to personal attacks, foul language, and hot tempers. We don't allow this board to be used in such a manner. Insulting remarks/name calling/ are not necessary nor welcome. Period.

These threads can be/should be opportunities to exchange ideas, thoughts, and knowledge. They can be/should be provocative & inspire others to think & rethink. Nastiness contradicts these objectives.

I am very happy to see several persons posting who've not been here before and would like to see all of you continue to do so. However, the anger and malice serves no one's interest & violates the objectives of this board.

I'd appreciate it VERY much if those who have engaged in this would put a bit of effort into some conciliatory messages & pursue these "debates" in an intelligent, non-emotional manner. It'd be much appreciated by the many, many visitors to this site & board.

Thanks & I hope these topics will continue to be discussed.
