: : Rich, the museum at Prophet's Town isn't finished yet but things are starting to happen there. Visit for the details.

: thanks for the info, I knew that a museum was being built, but to tell you the truth I hadnt followed its progress very closely since
: last year...

: :Another great place for history is Conner Prairie which is a reconstructed village based on John Conner (an early settler/trader near Indianapolis). He was married to a Delaware and had seven children. She left in 1820 during removal to OK and he stayed, remarried (a white woman, three MONTHS later) and had another huge family. Until recently very little was emphasized re his Delaware wife or life as a trader. Go to for an extensive site. I'm not sure it mentions that next year there will be a Delaware village and trading post, too. We don't have mountains but there might be something here to prompt a visit! (Besides car racing!)

: >This sounds great! I'll have to check out the website(s) :-)

Champ (Jayne and Rich and all);
These have been some interesting posts; I read "A Sorrow in Our Heart" by Allan Eckert about Tecumseh; I'd never heard of the guy until a year or two ago; I think on the West Coast they stick to the Plains Indians and skip over the others in grade school; my LOTM hubby knew about him as there are parks named and what not named after Tecumseh in Michigan (where the LOTM hubby grew up) and Ohio....however; Tecumseh is a very interesting read; and I have enjoyed the posts.

And oh, yes, our Great 1999 Gathering:
There was a half eaten piece of fudge (courtesy of MMMMarcia)(who can cook up a storm!) left in the kitchen area; I knew that Mr. Girty had been to the Gathering in spirit; only my sisters want to know: why didn't you eat the whole piece!!!!!
