Hi, Thomas,

In answer to your questions, the fort is gone, as Jayne said. Part of the deal with 20th Century Fox was, I believe, to restore the property back to its original condition when they finished filming. The fort was torn down completely, though if you scout around in the tall grasses at the edge of the road, you might find a charred piece of wood. And you can gaze across at the island, which is shown under siege when our group first approaches the fort, right before Uncas turns and sees the Ottawa approaching through the forest. Nice spot to visit.

Bridal Veil Falls is located on private property and is not accessible to the public. We had special permission to visit the entire River Walk area at this year's Gathering, and we all got to walk under Bridal Veil Falls, a la the Hurons tracking our heroes. What fun! Maybe you will get to see that particular spot one day, too. I'm not giving up hope that it will someday end up protected by the Park Service.

Rich, Eric mentioned an address we could write to if we wanted to join the protest against this land being sold to developers. Can that be posted? It's a fight I think we oughta make!
