At one point during the Gathering, I was having a discussion with SOMEONE about Cora's outfit, and being as how I'm teetering on the brink of complete senility, I can't remember WHO it was that I was speaking to. But I DO remember the gist of the discussion, and that the person I was talking to (I'm so sorry I'm drawing this blank) remarked that as a lady, Cora would NEVER have been wearing such a low-cut blouse, and that it was the sort of outfit a laundress would have worn. For some reason, this remark had me stymied, until I remembered (MUCH LATER) that the outfit wasn't actually Cora's. It was the change of clothes Mr. Phelps found for her upon her arrival at the fort, and very likely DID belong to a laundress. Cora's own outfit which she was wearing when first setting out on the George Road was quite conservative, with a modest neckline, and a lace insert. So, that explains the plunging neckline of the last part of the movie. But now how do I figure out who the heck I was talking to?????

Yours Befuddledly,
MMMMarcia
