Ah-ha! Then it is to you that I must address my rebuttal! As I recall, you were saying a lady would never have worn an outfit like that, as it was too low-cut and like something a laundress would wear. And I had no snappy comeback...UNTIL I remembered (as stated above) that the outfit in question wasn't Cora's. It was provided to her at the fort so that she could change out of her wet traveling outfit. It probably DID belong to a laundress or tavern wench. And it explains why she went from a very proper, high-cut dress on the George Road, to this...ah..."less structured" and more revealing outfit. So...I rest my case. Cora WAS a lady, after all.

However, after reading the interview in the latest issue of US magazine, I'm not at all sure about our Maddy! The things that woman will tell complete strangers!! Tsk. It pains me to have to admit that certain folks (our Mentorman, for one) might have been right about Madeleine all along, but some of her comments were in poor taste, IMHO. Of course, what do *I* know?!

Thanks for clearing up my confusion on the conversation, Patty.
