Hello there Penny. I agree with you. It is a great movie/musical to watch over the weekend. I was fortunate enough to see 1776 originally as a play with the same characters in the play as are in the movie. Loved it. Saw the play in 1976 during the bicentennial. It is funny, but it has drama and history woven in too as you said.

: Hello all in Mohicanland! With The 4th coming up, I thought I'd take a moment to recommend one of my fave movies--1776. I know the idea of a musical about The Signing of the Declaration of Independence seems like a goofy one, but it is quite effective! There is great humour, intense drama, and it is amazing how much history they can cram into those songs! Ben Franklin and John Adams steal the show--and are really beleivable. Reading history is always great, but once in a while ya just gotta have The Singing Founding Fathers! If anyone else has seen or does see it I would like to hear your opinions! Enjoy! And have a great 4th!

: Love to all! Penny THE Mohicanite of CO :-)
