: A mini-series based on the tales would be interesting; however, after slogging through 9/10's of one of Cooper's books; (I'm afraid to try the rest...)(I'm moving fast and ducking, Gayle!!) I would not know how one could make a fast paced, exciting 1999 type of series out of it! Even Marcia raffled her LOTM book; smart move!

>>Now, Jo...you KNOW I only raffled off my book in order to share the wonder of Cooper with others! ;o) And, ANN...I haven't forgotten that you were the lucky winner of this prize! I'll be expecting a book report, soon!

>>Seriously, my problem with Cooper's books does not lie with the STORIES, at all! They are terrific adventures and would make a wonderful "fast-paced, exciting 1999" type series, I'm quite sure. Enough action and history for everyone. It's Cooper's literary style that bogs me down, not his great imagination, by any means. And also, seriously, I will probably tackle LOTM again soon, just because I don't give up easily on anything I've set my mind to. (Ask Soldier #2, who has seen my determination in action!) I finished the Deerslayer, and was glad to have read it...I very much enjoyed the tale, as a whole, especially the lovely descriptions of the Glimmerglass and surrounding area. The characters are interesting, as well. But I will say (as I've said before) Cooper's writing is not for everyone, and I don't enjoy the story nearly as much WHILE reading it as I do AFTERWARDS, when I can just play the tale again in my mind's eye.

Then Jo added:
: No, seriously, an interesting idea; but who would play the roles.....??? Another subject we've dealt with a few times..always an interesting one, also.

>>Aye, there's the rub, eh? For MY money, I can NEVER imagine anyone other than DDL as Hawkeye, period. So I guess I'm stuck with this ONE Leatherstocking Tale, as told by Michael Mann, and may never be able to watch any other. Guess I'll just have to continue to replay it...and replay it...and replay it...
