: Where to start ... ?

: I think with, "Thank you!" The gesture provided by many of you this week was too much! Once again, we are reminded of why we do this! You all are so VERY kind ... just the letter alone was touching, and certainly would have sufficed, but the check ... THAT was above & beyond the call of duty! Elaine & I BOTH appreciate your sentiments greatly. You are one great bunch. I don't know what to say, Duncan ... [BLUSH!]

: So ... Let's see ... Oh, the Web Site ... Well ... I know that those of you who have links to us, or have certain pages bookmarked, are going to curse us, but we had to do it. The Site is in a state of change right now, some are made, more are to come. In the beginning, we had no idea where this was going. Had we known, we would have laid out the Site structure differently. Little by little, we are attempting to re-structure as the times dictate. Some might not even realize a change, for if you just follow the links within the Site, it's really not all that noticeable ... or maybe it is ... It's hard to tell from this end. We are trying to organize & make the place easier to navigate. I hope that we are successful. Remember, especially in the transition, use the Table of Contents, The Mohican Musings Index, and the Search Engine. ALL are linked to on the Opening Page.

: So, what did we do?

: Eric Schweig: We put EVERYTHING in one section of the Site, with the exception of the Interview which is still in the Musings with the other interviews. The Gift Shop now has links ONLY to his masks. We think this works better, especially for someone newly stumbling upon the Site. New: The Q & A session we [Gatherers] had with Eric before the raffle of his mask.

: The Gatherings: Rather than have these pages in the middle of the Musings, which is intended to deal more with the LOTM story & film, we gave The Gathering its OWN section, as well. Now, both past Gatherings, all the photo galleries, and info on the NEXT Gathering are in one place. Easier? Hope so. New: A Gathering 2000 page! Not much there, but as those of you who attended this past one already know, the dates are (MOST probably) Friday, June 23 - Sunday, June 25, 2000. So pencil that in on your calendars! Sharon is doing the T-Shirts, Sarah Z. & Jo are doing the Program Guide, Marcia will find a suitable group-type lodging to replace the Bunkhouse, do the raffle preparations, & coordinate our CRP day, & we will set the itineray, do the promo, and handle the movie. Of course, all suggestions & input are welcome. Oh, and Sarah M. has some good plans for setting up a Trading Post at the Gathering. Should be fun! Caitlin, you know what you have to do!

: So, go to the Opening Page & follow the links. If you find anything that appears out of sync, please do let us know!

: What else? The Search Feature for the Board has, regrettably, been removed. The Board, and its Archives, are simply too big. We ran into memory problems. So, it's back to the old-fashioned way: BROWSING the Archives, if you want to find a particular post or thread. Cumbersome, I know. But ... you can always take the easy route ... just ask Jo!

: Soon ... the entire Gift Shop will be revamped to reflect a REAL MohicanLand Towne. Elaine has some good ideas for that. Some new items, too. We've mentioned the Mohican Musical Musings, a soon-to-be Sarah M. contribution to the Site. Well, we've seen her preliminary work and, WOW, good stuff! I think you'll all enjoy it, as we have, when it's complete. We profusely apologize for the long delay in finishing the Wes Studi Interview. Time has only permitted shorter, less time consuming projects. It WILL be completed. Soon! Plus, The Courier has some new life, or will, and Mark Baker, as soon as he finds time, will complete his story (many ask!). Be patient with Mark ... he is VERY busy! We are lucky to have had so much input from him as it is.

: And, AGH has had to increase their rates due to (oh, how I hate to say this) postal rate increases back in January. Stephanie held off as long as she could, but has finally succumbed to the inevitable. There are links to the AGH back issues & subscription info on all our Interview Pages.

: Glad to hear of the apparent Lakota victory at White Clay, Nebraska. It was a long time coming. I can remember hearing of Indian beatings there way back when! As for Russell Means, he seems to have done a good thing here. My comments earlier in the week, regarding 2 tradionalists feelings towards him, were just that ... 2 traditionalists feelings towards him. Selo, who was at Wounded Knee in '73, has made no bones about his feelings towards Russell, having spoken publicly about that subject many times. I am sure that he, Russell, does have Reservation SUPPORT, as well.

: So, are you all buying DVD players yet?!?

: Happy Trails!

You're very much welcome!

As usual, a great update....all of the restructuring of the board looks good to me; am looking forward to a Mr. Baker article and of course the Musings....looking forward to see Sarah M.'s contributions!!...although I don't know about contacting ME about prior postings; I mean things were done to certain posts; none were spared (even my posts are off in the never never land); my memory is in a GGGGG flux...and my 3 minutes of fame on the Swish engines has ended?????
Ah well, here's to the Y2K Gathering, as Sarah Z. has fondly called it!

Jo
