: O'Siyo All in Mohicanland ---
: I just wanted to let y'all know that though I will try & peek in on the happenings occassionally, I fear I wont be casting my shadow much here for a spell...
: Of course part of this is due to the overwhelming responsibilities that have come my way as NW (Tahquohee) District rep' for the Southern Cherokee Nation, and my other duties associated with that as a council member.
: But the other thing is that I am embarking upon a "journey" with the help of traditional teachers within the SCN, and I need to be focused upon this.
: Like most mixed-bloods, my family long ago (in East TN) "lost" alot of their Cherokee heritage when they went upon the "white path".
: This of course was due to "social reasons" of hundred or so years ago. Anyhow, like many, my clan connections have been lost over time, but there are those within the Cherokee who have ways of finding these things out. And it is to one of these spiritual guides I have gone to find my clan (due to certain circumstances, including a personal visit as a child from a wolf in the New Mexican mountains, we suspect that I am of the Wolf Clan).
: Also, I am also embarking upon a "journey" to find my "Cherokee Name". This will include fasting, prayers to the Grandfather, etc.
: I have been asked by someone upon this list (I wont mention names ) to share these "journies" with y'all upon the board, and though I maybe able to give a vague "outline" of what I experience, just today one of our spiritual leaders & a Band Chief has told us in the Southern Cherokee to NOT share details of our traditional & ancient ceremonies
: with other people. The details are to be kept within the Nation, for the people of the SCN only. I'm sorry about that, but I do promise to share what I can in the future.
: Anyhow, I am sorry for being so longwinded, but I want y'all to know why I'll be dissapearing for awhile.
: May you all enjoy great blessings, & I will poke my head in every so often. :-)
: Oh, & Miss Marcia, my ol' pard (Simon Girty) asked you (in his words)
: "ta' keep a warm plate 'n' a tankard of rum handy 'n th' corn crib 'n Ah'll be jes' fine 'n' stay out'ta trouble, fer' now" ;-)
: Wado ---
Siyo 'Champ' ~
'What an adventcha!' But hey! You're gonna be missed!! At least I know that ole Simon Girty is gonna be warm of a cold evenin'! :0)
Seriously, I hope this 'voyage of discovery' brings you the knowledge, wisdom and fulfilment that you seek, in connecting with your past. It's always important to know 'who you are'! Good luck, 'Champ' and take care.
