LOTM DVD Questions

Hi gang!
My name is Chris and I am a long time reader, first time poster here. I was really excited to see in the archives that LOTM was going to be released as a Director's Cut on DVD on November 23. Since we just bought a new DVD player, I hopped online trying to find the best place to buy it. I found some strange stuff. The folks at reel.com list the LOTM DVD release on October 5!!! They don't mention any special details on this release (ie director's cut, widescreen, etc). I searched DVD Express and found that they think the release date is November 23 (again no details). A lot of the other sites I looked at didn't even list LOTM as being released anytime soon. I tried to check things out at Fox.com but it is the most confusing darn site I have ever seen!!! Their store is completely down and their movies page only discusses things in theaters now. So my question to you good people in Mohicanland is this- is the October 5 release date accurate? If it is accurate is it going to be the much sought after Director's cut/Special Edition? Please note that if you go to reel.com and look at the DVD coming soon page LOTM is not listed under either 10-5 or 11-23.
