MY first impressions?

Hmmm ... hard to see through the haze, but the first things that come to mind are, in sequence:

Like Gayle, the mesmerizing opening sequence of drums, darkness, & then, the mist-laiden blue ridge mountains suddenly brightening the screen.

Then, the absolutely tasteful, artistically masterful, Kiss scene.

Finally, the awesome ruggedness of the Cliffs of Chimney Rock Park, which I immediately recognized ...

Those 3 things I took away from my first viewing. The rest of the film followed suit, indelibly stamped on my soul, over the next few weeks as I watched it over & over & over & over & over & over & ...
