It struck me (like and arrow through a loophole) last night, that we,right here in Mohicanland, have virtually relived the whole plot of LOTM in the last few weeks. Consider the following:

Example 1: The Cameron/Federici Cabin

There were the Camerons - a close, kind, honest family who built a humble cabin on the frontier and worked hard to provide everything for their family. In addition, should a hunter or an Indian show up - "Are you hungry? Are you tired? Come sit by our fire and warm yourself. Share in our meal - it's humble, but it's nourishing, and you are welcome to all we have. Are you lonely from traveling the forest day after day? This small child will sit in your lap and cuddle close to you and listen with joy to your stories of your travels and hunts. Ready for some fun? Thank goodness you all dropped in - now we have enough people for a game of jai alai for a change! Let's go! Do you have concerns about the war and the hardships of the frontier? Share your opinions and news with us.

And then . . . .!

Example 2: Hawkeye/Richfed

Disconsolate, but full of dignity, Hawkeye walks submissively down the ramp from the fort - surrounded by guards, his hands manacled before him - while unknown to him, the coming massacre develops in the surrounding forest.

And then . . . .!

I can think of all SORTS of scenes from the movie that have been played out in Mohicanland lately. How about the rest of you?

Gayle
