: Kate --

: This is SO true and very well put! I would argue one point though, and that is what you said about the ambush on the George Road, and Hawkeye, Chingachgook, and Uncas "As they see it, though they don't want to, and against their true natures, they have no option but to fight." But I think it IS in their nature to fight for what is right, fight against evil and the bad guy, even if it's not what they want to do. "They" are not the type to walk away and let the bad guys win (and you know which "they" I refer to ;>)).

: But you're quite right about the people doing the right thing and the people doing evil for evil's sake.

: LHK,

: : Hi Gayle!

: : Taking up your thread, as you say, there are quite a few scenes in LOTM that could have been 'plagiarised' straight from the 'pantomime' being staged by certain evil characters and carried out on the Board. For instance, the scenes below spring to mind:

: : a) Magua/Evil
: : Scene from LOTM - the figure of Magua standing in the corner, hidden in the darkness of the shadows, but comes out to do his mischief. Remind you of anything - or anyone?

: : b) Hawkeye/Richfed
: : Cameron's Cabin with English Officer Recruiting for Colonial Militia -Hawkeye wants no part in the fighting. He wants only to get on with his life and go about his own business. He indicates to his brother (Uncas, for those not familiar with this story!) that this fight has nothing to do with them and they should leave the others to get on with it. He has had his say and has made it clear he does not want to get involved in a war not of his making.

: : c) Hawkeye/Richfed
: : George Road Ambush - Hawkeye, Uncas and Chingachgook come across the ambush. Circumstances demand that they make a decision about turning their backs on the fray or engaging in battle. As they see it, though they don't want to, and against their true natures, they have no option but to fight.

: : d) Destruction of settlers cabin/destruction of friendship
: : Cameron's Cabin Burnt Out Shell - Hawkeye, Uncas, Chingachgook (and travelling companions?!) come across the burnt out cabin, destroyed by warring 'neighbours', where only so recently they had enjoyed peace and camaraderie with their friends. They had 'broken bread' together, linking and sharing what they had in the way of food, warmth and news of life on the frontier. Now their friends lie dead and they must 'stay as they lay'.

: : e) Hurons/Evil L.
: : The Hurons track Hawkeye, Uncas, Chingachgook and company. Clearly they do not want to lose their prey, stalking and nipping at their heels, determined to kill the ones they see as their enemy. Hawkeye and Co. try desperately to get away from the evil that is hounding them.

: : f)Magua/Richfed
: : Uncas goes tearing up that mountain, determined to rescue Alice out of the evil Magua's clutches, but just can't get to grips with him and loses the fight - Magua has won that battle but, he lives only 'to fight another day' - HE HAS NOT WON THE WAR! For Chingachgook finally, deals the fatal blow!

: : A lot of parallels, dontcha know!! As you say, Gayle, a lot of arrows flying through the same loophole! And I, like the rest of Mohicanland, predict and are confident that the 'ending' of the 'Richfed Wars' will also occur along very similar lines!! THE 'GOODIES' WILL WIN!!!

: : Go easy, my friends!
: : Kate.

Kate and Sarah,

Always fun to get more players into the game! Good examples!

How about this -

Cora/Elaine

Cora storms into Munro's office and takes him to task for not understanding Hawkeye's reasoning and supporting the citizens. Then she marches to the stockade and leaves no question in Hawkeye's mind that she is behind him and will fight with him to the bitter end - a strong and loyal woman who has no compunctions about entering the battle and standing by him through thick and thin.

Gayle
