: For those interested in the history of how Hawkeye, Cora and Alice have effected the image of the American heroes and heroines, check out this article - Cooper on Film, The Evolvement of Cooper's Characters, Plots, and Themes in the Western Film by Edward Harris. It's a kind of modern condensation of Henry Nash Smith's book, but interesting all the same. When you open the link, click on the image of the film to open the article.

Hi,Gayle!

I checked out the site. I'm no expert on Cooper(or anything else for that matter), but while I was reading LOTM I kept thinking I was reading the script for a B western. Especially the falls scene. I even invisioned everything in black and white. It's nice to know that while my grammar is lacking and my prose stinks, I can a least think like an edumacated person. I had already shared my observations about the book with my husband(He Who Listens With Glazed Eyes)and was pleased to be able to show him there was someone out there who thinks about this kind of thing besides his crazy wife.

Thanks for sharing,
Dana
