: : Hi, Karen!  We are going to be staying at a house on Cold Mountain (yes, the same as the book).  We'll be hiking & driving around the area, and over towards Chimney Rock, and maybe Linville Falls...wherever the mood strikes us.  We'll also be checking out some possible accommodations for next year's Gathering, and if all goes well, we'll meet our own Richfed somewhere for a guided hike, maybe up Table Rock.  I'd LOVE to see the view of Linville Gorge during the fall!  It must be stunning!

: I hope the colours have changed for you when you are there.  That should be spectacular, with gorgous fall colours.  I would love to hike Chimney Rock with you -- maybe I'll dash down there and get to see the view in the clear crisp air!! Sigh.....
