: My husband and I just spent two days on the Parkway taking in the fall colors. We only live 40 miles from the nearest entrance, but rarely get the chance to enjoy the park because of our busy lifestyle. After these two days, my husband asked if I could find riding trails anywhere in the NC vacinity of the Parkway. If anyone knows of campgrounds or facilities that allow you to bring your own horses and ride local trails, I would appreciate any info you can pass on. And in case you're wondering, for two people that were born and raised in the middle of all that beautiful scenery seen in LOTM, the wonder never fades. Thanks, NightSky Farm

Hello Nightsky Farm,

As a teenager (days and days ago) we used to go up to Julian Price Park on the Parkway and ride horses. They had horses there that you could "rent" (not sure that's the right word) and some people would bring their own horses 'cause I remember seeing trailers in the parking area. They had GREAT trails to ride on, a lake to picnic around, and was just an all around nice park! Like I said that was many years ago and I'm not sure what the possibilities are today. Julian Price Park (I hope the name is the same)is located near the Boone portion of the Parkway.

Happy trails,
Diana
