His 'Reservation Blues' or earlier short story collection 'The Lone Ranger & Tonto Fistfight in Heaven'(the source for the movie Smoke Signals) are much more enjoyable and, to me, relevant. The short story collection has the added advantage of addressing a single, complete story at one hit. Anyway, that is my two cents. Ciao. Danalee

I've read both "Indian Killer" and "The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven." I don't plan to read "Indian Killer" again. I think it would be a shame to introduce Sherman Alexie to new readers through that book. I'd rather they discover his humor and (can't think of the right word. Dang Alzheimers again! "Pathos" is too dramatic, but it's sort of the thought.) before reading something so dark. How about TLRATFIH or "Reservation Blues" first?
