: : : I've been busy recently helping some co-workers & friends set up & use their new computer systems ... first time users. So, of course, after getting them in business & connected to the Internet, the first Site we go to is always ...  HERE! Whoa! I knew this already, but my recent excursions into MohicanLand via other computers really drove it home ... This Site looks SO different elsewhere than it does on our system. To make it look similiar, on your system, to the way it's DESIGNED to appear, do the following:

: : : * Set your monitor resolution to 800x600
: : : * Use a recent browser. Currently, the latest are Netscape 4.7, which is what we use, and IE5.
: : : * Use your Browser's font settings at the "largest" setting.
: : : * If you have this font, set your variable width font to "Prose Antique" (16pt) ... Another, stylish, antique-type font would probably work well, too.
: : : * Set the fixed width font to "Courier New" (12pt), which you should all have. - Both the above settings are done within your Browser.

: : : Do all that and you'll see the Web Site much differently!

: : : Around the Site:

: : : Besides the Opening Page & this Board, our Eric Schweig pages continue to pull in the most hits on any given day (as a section). This despite the fact that we haven't updated them in some time. Usually, stuff listed as "New" & the Menu Pages also rank right up there, along with the Custer/Little Bighorn pages of our "Against All Odds" Web Site. The most consistently viewed area, as a section in total, has got to be the Script, where often times folks flip through the entire section, page by page. The new Musical Musings are following that pattern. Visitors there tend to wade through quite deeply! Sarah, you should be proud!

: : : Speaking of Custer and the Little Bighorn ... a grand new book has recently come out, entitled, " Little Bighorn Remembered: The Untold Indian Story Of Custer's Last Stand," by Herman J. Viola (Times Books ... division of Random House). The book is quite remarkable. Exquisite contemporary & period photos adorn the pages, the complete Red Horse pictograph battle drawings are a stunning centerpiece, and oral tradition history of the Sioux, Cheyenne, Crow & Arikara Indian Tribes tell the story, from a different perspective. The oversized book is chock full of new finds, including letters from Lieutenant William V.W. Reilly, a member of the 7th Cavalry killed during the battle. It's a wonderful volume, and a great addition to my already overstocked Little Bighorn library. If the subject interests you, I highly recommend going out & getting it!

: : : Nine days till "The Last of the Mohicans" Director's Cut is released on DVD! An idea for those who can't presently afford the purchase of a DVD player for one movie ... Buy the DVD, rent a player from your local video store, and TAPE it! Then you can watch it countless times the old fashioned way - on your VCR!

: : : THE CHRISTMAS CARD PAGE ALERT!!! We have received several contributions for our proposed Christmas & Holiday MohicanLand Greetings, but, really, we could use more ... lots more! If you'd like to add your greetings to the Card, please send us photos, graphics, sentiments, whatever ... stuff with a Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years-type theme, if possible. If you send photos via the Internet, make them in .jpg format. If you have no scanner, you can mail them to us at:

: Not to worry.  Can't fling bees at you.  They started to get a little rambunctious, so I closed them all in the hive and told them they couldn't come out until they had read the first 15 chapters of "The Deerslayer" as a calming exercise.  I haven't heard from them since, and it's been a week now. Strange snoring sounds coming from the hive on occasion, but otherwise it's very peaceful.
