: : Having read the Cooper trilogy at the age of 14, and again for a graduate American Lit class in college, I can only say "trudge bravely you strong souls!"

: : I would recommend the following: I'm new to this BB, so they may have been discussed already, if so, I apologize.

: : Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee by Dee Brown
: : Custer Died For Your Sins by Vine Deloria, Jr.
: : God Is Red by Vine Deloria, Jr.

: : They give a much better understanding to the AIM take over at Wounded Knee. Happy Reading!

: Thanks, NightSky. These books have been touched upon long ago but never really discussed. We've got quite a well rounded book club in the making here ... It is the "brave souls" who push us all forward, yes?

: Where are all the "Reservation Blues" commentaries? This IS the week to begin RB discussions. Sherman Alexie would be disappointed by your silence.

Well, thanks for the comments, you two!!!
Brave souls....??? Well, I can think of a few other descriptions to describe Cooper Readers; however, Gayle is someone to be reckoned with....
And thank you for the book suggestions, NightSky....
However, I have really gotten off on the wrong foot here...(as usual); I started reading Mr. Alexie's "Indian Killer"; somehow I thought that was the second book to read....(must have skipped class that day...)oh, well....darn...another trip to the book store....about as painful as watching LOTM....(for me anyway...)!!!
(Have to keep occupied until the DVD release, right????)
