: : : : Having read the Cooper trilogy at the age of 14, and again for a graduate American Lit class in college, I can only say "trudge bravely you strong souls!"

: : : : I would recommend the following: I'm new to this BB, so they may have been discussed already, if so, I apologize.

: : : : Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee by Dee Brown
: : : : Custer Died For Your Sins by Vine Deloria, Jr.
: : : : God Is Red by Vine Deloria, Jr.

: : : : They give a much better understanding to the AIM take over at Wounded Knee. Happy Reading!

: : : Thanks, NightSky. These books have been touched upon long ago but never really discussed. We've got quite a well rounded book club in the making here ... It is the "brave souls" who push us all forward, yes?

: : : Where are all the "Reservation Blues" commentaries? This IS the week to begin RB discussions. Sherman Alexie would be disappointed by your silence.

: : __________

: : Well, thanks for the comments, you two!!!
: : Brave souls....??? Well, I can think of a few other descriptions to describe Cooper Readers; however, Gayle is someone to be reckoned with....
: : And thank you for the book suggestions, NightSky....
: : However, I have really gotten off on the wrong foot here...(as usual); I started reading Mr. Alexie's "Indian Killer"; somehow I thought that was the second book to read....(must have skipped class that day...)oh, well....darn...another trip to the book store....about as painful as watching LOTM....(for me anyway...)!!!
: : (Have to keep occupied until the DVD release, right????)

: : (tpfka) Jo

:
: Hi, Jo!

: No harm in sharing your thoughts on "Indian Killer". I'd be interested to know what you think of Sherman.;)

: Go ahead...make my day.

: Dana

Hi All. l have been searching the internet sites here in Australia for some of the books mentioned and cant find a darn thing. l've been looking for a while for new material to read but it is annoying when you cant access the books. Violet.
