There was nothing that could have made it better - nothing that could possibly have exceeded the emotional impact of the original. So my feeling is that we should simply admit that you can't improve on perfection and the DVD is testimony to that. We haven't lost a thing - only had our original impressions confirmed - it's a Classic.

Good points, Gaylee...no we haven't lost anything at all. We still have the first version, which we all know and love. And now we have another version, which some will enjoy more than others, no doubt. So we can take our pick! Perhaps we were being really greedy to want more, more, more, anyway? But, for whatever it's worth, we have two versions now...actually, I have more than that. I have the first video I bought & nearly wore out, which was before the THX one. Then I have a second one just like that, only in better shape. Then I have one that I recorded off of tv, "reformatted to fit your screen," which may ruin the panorama, but makes for lovely closeups. Then I have my THX wide-screen, digital, wonderful video. Then I have the one recorded off of tv with Duncan's Diversion in it, and the muted "thwacks" and "hacks." And now I have a DVD. Surely, surely between all of that, I can find enough to satisfy the Mohican Maniac in me!!!!! ;o)
