I was just doing some reading and found out a few interesting little facts. August 9, the day that Fort William Henry fell to Montcalm in 1757, has seen its share of history making. For instance, one year later (Aug. 9, 1758) - Edge Pillock in Burlington County, New Jersey, became the first Native American reservation in the United States. In 1862, it was the day that the Second Bull Run campaign of the Civil War began. In 1945, the second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on Aug. 9. The Charles Manson murders occurred on this day in 1969. And then in 1974 the first resignation of an American President (Nixon) became official. I guess many days of the year have multiple historic events on that particular day, but I thought this might be interesting for our considerations.
