Hi, NightSky! Yes, I loved that glimpse of the cat & it's "hissing" at Cora, too. But stalking a person on horseback & stalking an entire regiment (was that what it was?) of soldiers are two different things. I really think that even back then, that many people and that much noise would have driven the cougar away. Perhaps not. But, regardless, it's a nice spot in the film, isn't it? BTW, I'm one of the very few who has actually seen the Florida panther in the wild. It's a subspecies of the western cougar and nearly extinct. Now THEY are wary, secretive and uncommon animals. And there are no verified reports of them ever killing a person, though I've heard that California has some real problems with THEIR cats, now.
