Well, you had me going for a minute or two there, Marcia!
But TOUCHE!!! Well done.
In reading Rich and Elaine's official DVD review I found out for the first time that "Clear it up any" and "Breed apart and make no sense" were also deleted, and found myself yelling at the computer, flailing around my kitchen in angered bewilderment. What???????? That too?!!! That tears it. So, that's just about the COMPLETE SET of all the really interesting Hawkeye lines in the film, now. Every bit of that part of his personality...which I must say I loved...has been wiped out. (Oh, is "Just dropped in to see how you boys was doin'" also gone, or is it the lone reminder we now have that Hawkeye had a fine sense of humor and irony?)
I haven't seen the DVD yet. I WILL try to keep an open mind while watching it in its new altered state. But, really...I don't know if I can ever forgive Michael Mann for doing this radical surgery on our beloved frontier hero. I'm getting the feeling that he's going to be much too one-dimensional for me now...all seriousness, melodrama and intensity.
Oh, *expeltive deleted*
