: : In the waterfall scene, Cora told Hawkeye to not tell Alice about Colonel Munro's death. He agrees, of course, but when he is asking Sachem to let the children of the dead Munro go free, Alice has no reaction. Maybe she thought he was talking about her mother. Then again, maybe Magua told her when they were capture at the waterfall. I know, it's just a movie, but I thought it was funny.
: Dear Treasa,
: I always assumed that Alice's mind was too foggy at that point to comprehend what was being said. She doesn't really understand anything until Cora is taken towards the fire and Magua begins leading her away. Then she reacts. I do have to admit however that her eyes are fairly alert throughout.
Yes, I always wondered at her lack of reaction to his statement, and thought she looked a little too regular in some of those shots to support the theory that she wouldn't react to it because she was so "out there." However, there are a couple brief moments when she looks wacked-out-terrified, which kind of makes up for it.
