: Well, I have the DVD disc; (do you have yours yet????)

I finally put it on order thru Reel.com 3 days ago. Should come in early next week. Now I will be able to throw some opinions out there with actual data to back me up!

For all of you out there making the DVD plunge, if you can afford it, get a good Dolby Digital capable Audio/Video reciever. I know Rich said he was impressed with the sound of the Disc using just his TV speakers, he would be blown away with the right set-up. A powered sub-woofer is also a excellent investment, and gives you lovely, deep bass. I was lucky, I had accumulated a laserdisc player, (and a copy of LOTM on laser, 'natch!) a Dolby Pro-Logic Surround A/V Reciever, and my 5 speakers over the past decade. Then, in June of 98, my house got zapped by lightening (I'll get to the lucky part in a minute, honest) and blew up all of my stuff. But with the insurance check, I was a good little shopper and got me a Dolby Digital Reciever, a combo player that plays both Lasers AND DVD's (Which was necessary, if I didn't want to junk my substantial Laser collection.) and a powered subwoofer (the .1 in 5.1)

But, like everything else, in a few years (at least for the richer ones out there, longer for the rest of us) HDTV and all of its accessories will make my set-up as obsolete as a 8-track. But thats life. The state of the art computer you are typing on today will be tomorrows dinosaur.
