: I always thought she said 'welcome', right from the first viewing.

: However, now that you've brought this up, as I was viewing the DVD the other day, and it got to the part where Hawkeye emerges onto the cliff in time to see Uncas slide over the edge (dispatched by the nasty Magua), I just got this FEELING that he's really yelling "Nachanz" (is that spelling right?)--the word identified earlier on this board as meaning "brother". I noticed that when he's speaking in the Indian tongue throughout the movie, he always addresses Ching. and Uncas with these words, Brother and Father. I really think that's what he's saying there, and not "Uncas" as I thought previously. Is it in the script, by chance?

: Myrrh

Hi Myrrh,
It's not in my script (first draft 6/15/90), nor is Alex's welcome/uncle line.
Chris
