: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Yeah well MY computer runs on an atomic clock! Meaning, it is so old it uses carbon dating before it can tell you the time and day and year for display.

: : : : : : : : try typing with fossilized keys sometime. YOu really gotta POUND them keys!

: : : : : : : : Bill R

: : : : : : : Dear Bill,

: : : : : : : Are you sure you are not mistaking your old typewriter for your computer keyboard? One of those GGGG moments, perhaps?

: : : : : : : Ilse

: : : : : : I'll be danged! Well whatdoya know? You're right!!! That explains why the keys kept getting all tangled up and nothing would appear on the screen!!!

: : : : : : What kind of computer is "Royal" anyways.....anybody know?????

: : : : : : Billy R of GGGG fame

: : : : : _______

: : : : : NO, NO, NO, MR. Bill...Underwood, not Royal....with the letter "a" key never being able to actually get all of the way down to strike the ribbon...

: : : : : Jo
: : : : : another very GGGGGG
: : : : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: : : : Or the Smith Corona with the 'ribbon' that doesn't automatically change and rewind, so that you have to do it manually, getting your fingers black in the process!!

: : : : Oh yes!! So, who needs a computer, eh guys?!!

: : : : Kate.

: : :
: : : Omigosh! I thought I was the only one. I learned to type on one of the ancient black typewriters with the gold lettering (Underwood?) with the keys in a big semicircle, and they had to arc about 2" to hit the paper. I had some strong muscles in my fingers and hands when I was using that thing. It's probably an antique in a museum now.
: : : :o)
: : : Chris

: : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: : Oh yes, Chris, I found one exactly like that in the loft of a house that I bought and my daughter took it because she thought it was so quaint!! It sits on a shelf in her living-room and is a real talking piece!! Apparently, conversations start with 'gee, what IS that!!' :0)

: : Kate.

: Wanna talk about old and antiquated? Well, my mother sent me to business school in the summer I was 12 (that would be 1958 folks - dont bother doing the math) to keep me outta trouble, and I took the typing course. A friend and I were the only two guys (both 12) in the class of about 25 (ages 18 to 25 or so *sigh* lost opportunities). We learned on Underwoods. Klack klack klack klack 25 typewriters all at once as the teacher said "k k k k i i i i j j j j" and we all typed the dang letters learning keyboard placement. By the time I got out of that class I could type 45 or more words a minute and had forearms like a dam* gorilla.

Hey, 'Billy'!

I don't remember seeing you in my class!! Oooooooh, I remember it well!! Only, I was in that class for TWO years!! Aghhh!!

(Think forearms like a dam* gorilla were a problem for you!! :0)

Kate.
