: : Greetings all! On Wednesday I went to the nursing home and met the woman who was in the 1920 version of Mohicans! Her name is Sigrid Colleen McDonald Platner and she was 15 when the movie was filmed. Unfortunately she wasn't as lucid as she sometimes is so I couldn't talk with her much. She did know that I was a fan, and that I knew the Mohicans version she was in. I got two nice photos and my friend who works at the nursing home helped her sign an autograph for me. It was an emotional visit, and Colleen will soon be going on hospice care. I am honored and moved to have had this opportunity--it is a small world! I will be getting together soon with her daughter-in-law to discuss what she knows of Colleen's career--she is really excited to have hooked up with someone who is familiar with Colleen's work and will help her memory live on. Just thought I would share this incredible experience with all of my friends in Mohicanland!--PP

: Hi Pilgrim Penny,

: I have to tell you that reading about your interview with Colleen gave me goose bumps. What a wonderful opportunity for you AND for all of us here in MohicanLand. I am so glad you will be able to talk to her daughter-in-law. I'm sure it will be a joy for those in Colleen's family to be able to share with you something of Colleen and what makes her special to them. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Hello Pilgrim Penny!

Dana said it well---your visit with Colleen sounded wonderful, and I was very touched by what you had to say. I really look forward to hearing any more about your visits with her and her family. Just think, you're preserving a link to the LOTM past!
What an honor! What an adventcha!

And though LOTM (1920) pales in comparison to LOTM (1992), it does have its own "charm" (for lack of a better word), and I know that the next time I view it, it will have even more meaning thanks to your sharing about your visit!

Nancy
