: Eek! I have the 1930's serial that Rebecca mentioned--it is BAD! Guiltily though I must confess that I collect on it and I have a couple of beautiful lobby cards from it. I can't help it, I collect on both the bad and the good....As for the 1970s series from the BBC--it was the closest to the book I have ever seen. It was excellent, but had poor production qualities--not a lot of $ went into the making. Plus, all the Indians were portrayed by British actors, but did an excellent job just the same--very believable. It was handled with the utmost respect. Phillip Madoc (sp?) was outstanding as Magua.I saw it on tv in May 1981 and it remains my next fave after the 1992 Mohicans. Rich--was the one with Ned Romero the one with the Hawkeye that looked like the guy from the Brawny towels commercial?! I need to go back an rewatch all my various versions and reacquaint myself with them--it's been too long!--PP The Obsessed Cooper Collector

Pilgrim Penny:

Sounds like you've got quite a collection there! I am in awe! Are all of the versions of LOTM listed anywhere on this site? That would be a cool resource for those who want to view the other LOTM films.
Have there been many of the other Cooper novels? I only ever saw a (bad) version of Pathfinder with Kevin Dillon.....uh.... I don't think it followed the book....
