: : : : : Greetings all! On Wednesday I went to the nursing home and met the woman who was in the 1920 version of Mohicans! Her name is Sigrid Colleen McDonald Platner and she was 15 when the movie was filmed. Unfortunately she wasn't as lucid as she sometimes is so I couldn't talk with her much. She did know that I was a fan, and that I knew the Mohicans version she was in. I got two nice photos and my friend who works at the nursing home helped her sign an autograph for me. It was an emotional visit, and Colleen will soon be going on hospice care. I am honored and moved to have had this opportunity--it is a small world! I will be getting together soon with her daughter-in-law to discuss what she knows of Colleen's career--she is really excited to have hooked up with someone who is familiar with Colleen's work and will help her memory live on. Just thought I would share this incredible experience with all of my friends in Mohicanland!--PP

: : Pilgrim Penny -- Of all people, I'm glad it was you who got to meet this woman (THE Mohicanite of CO, since I'm not at home!!).  But my guess is you've probably stirred a chord in her, and it's amazing what old people recall -- happy times, even if hazy.  Visiting my old old grandmother, she never really knew exactly who I was but she knew I triggered vagues memories that made her really happy.  I will bet dollars to donuts you have done the same for Colleen, which is a real blessing.  I hope you have the chance to see her once more, for her sake (if not ours).

: What a wonderful story.  That really is a touching encounter.
: And touching for the rest of us to hear about it.  Yes, I think it would be a DANDY idea to send her cards.  Were it any of us in that bed, and we received a sack full of cards from fans of LOTM
: who remembered her role and expressed admiration and good feelings....well I think the tears would well up and we would be bursting with pride and happiness.  Well, you know what I mean.
