: : : Jo,

: : : Well, I gotta put my two cents in.....guns and all ya know.
: : : It was my assumption that she picked up a loaded gun from the battlefield and stuck it in her pocket. Later, when they are lying by the log, DDL hands her his powder horn, but my assumption was that he did so so that she could refresh the priming powder in the pan, rather than to reload the gun entirely.

: : Good call, I didn't even think of that. Then she manages to keep it dry while crossing the river, and a few days later when she needs the shot, it fires quickly. Of course! She's the heroine (hope I spelled that right!)

: Ha! Didnt say it was practical or possible, just said that was the impression I got, and I thought Mann intended for us to think. :) I dont recall her wading through a river though between the time of picking it up from the battlefield and needing it by the log. *shrugs* hey, GGGG at work. We cant remember every little detail. We think it a good day to remember all the names of people in our household!

When trekking or hunting for days at a time. I change my priming regularly weather it needs it or not. That`s the same impression I got when he handed her his horn.
