: : I have just finished reading James Alexander Thom's "Follow the River" (still waiting for copy of Deerslayer - on order!) and all I can say is Wow - what a tale! I couldn't put it down. Anybody else out there read it?

: Yes, Adele, I read it quite a few years ago!! It was an incredible tale and I most defintily admired Mary for her determination and perseverance!
: The author wrote another fascinating story, called "The Red Heart". A must to read!!

Hey all,

I LOVE Thom! I *think* I have read ALL his books. My favorite is Long Knife. It's about George Rogers Clark and his capturing of Ft. Sackville with but a handful of men in the middle of winter. Thom's telling of this tale is riveting. Below is a link to a great page about the whole incident. The page also has some links to lots of G.R. Clark info, just in case anyone is interested.

BTW, this would be MY contribution to the Hometown History thread that Kate started awhile back. Ft. Sackville was located in southern Indiana at what is now the city of Vincennes.
