: And as far as Mr. Cooper; still trying to finish off Deerslayer!
Glad to hear someone else is still working on "The Deerslayer." Where are you? I'm still on chapter 13. I'm taking a transcultural nursing course this semester which requires tons of reading, so I'm not likely to make much progress until spring break at the end of March. I was also in the middle of several other books when I started this course, so I may not catch up on them all until summer.
I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to summer right now. Since Monday we've had snow (had our first "snow day" off from school in 6 years because the subdivisions were snowed in), wind (135mph in some areas of town which closed half the schools for another day), rain last night with 45 degree temps, and now snow again this morning. I wish this stupid weather would just pick something and stick with it. Girdwood, south of Anch, has been isolated and without power for 4 days now. The road between Anch and Girdwood has been closed by 18 avalanches, one of which killed a dozer operator who was trying to clear an earlier slide and half buried a friend of mine. He's battered, but alive. For the time being, they've abandoned the idea of trying to open the road at all. They're supplying the town and getting emergency cases out by helicopter. At one point on Monday, all the major roads in the state were closed by avalances at the same time. Of course, you have to consider that we only have about a half dozen main roads.
Well, the good news is, we haven't had to shovel our roof this winter. Everytime we get a decent snowfall it's followed by a heat wave and rain. Totally disgusting!!!!!! It's sure been a wierd winter all over the country, hasn't it?
