Thank you for the warm welcome. And as MMMMarcia said to jump in, so I am taking the plunge. First I must say the information here is overwhelming. So much to read! Perhaps to start with I should tell Mohicanland a little about myself. I majored in History in College (Medieval English History) and found that there was not such a great calling for studies of this type in the good ol' US of A. I became a Young Adult Librarian only to have my career cut short by the arrival of Multiple Sclerosis. Consequently I do most of my Computer fun during the early hours of the morning. I am going to attach a pic of myself & my husband John (married last May). Yes we are both of Scots-Irish decent, think the red hair may give it away!
Okay now to my question. Last night I was reading some posts (and for the life of me can't find it now) it had to do with Hawkeye jumping out of the cave into the waterfall. It seemed to be a consensus that Hawkeye jumped last but was able to pull Chingachgook out of the water. That immeditately struck a cord in me as it never showed Uncas or Chingachgook going before Hawkeye. Cora tells Hawkeye she wants him to go, he replys "If we go there is a chance there won't be a fight". Perhaps the DVD version is different? But I have always assumed that Hawkeye went into the falls first, perhaps 2nd after Uncas. And that Chigachgook went last being the father. This is just my take on that scene. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
My husband would like me to state that his favorite line from the movie is when they are on the river walk and Duncan asks "How is it that you are going to Kentucky" and Hawkeye replies " Well we kinda face North and real sudden like turn left" Okay that is all for now. Will check back in often and read the posts etc... :) Vicki
