Ah! Here is where I believe you made your mistake. You believed this idiot wanted to have a discussion and responded to him. It has been my experience that a response only encourages the fools.

I'm afraid I DID lose my temper, eventually, and decide the person was a complete idiot, and told him so. There could be no other excuse for such deliberate obtuseness. I had to block all incoming email from him.
It has also been my experience that blocking emails only makes them believe that they have won. It is much more frustrating for them if you continue to receive their emails, but make ample use of your delete button and don't reply. Then they do not know whether or not you've read their piece, and worse yet, why you haven't replied. Let them stew in their own frustrations.
