: Hi Fellow Gatherers:

: Have you been pouring over maps and racking your brain trying to decide where to stay during the gathering? Should you stay in or near the campground? Near the movie theatre? Chimney Rock Park? Or perhaps the Biltmore Estate? Aaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhh! Weve decided to share our lodging plans with you in case youre going through the same difficult decision that we did.

: Were staying at the Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland on Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights and at the Hendersonville Quality Inn on Saturday night. Staying at the Big Lynn Lodge puts us near the campground and the hub of activity. Why stay at the Quality Inn on Saturday night instead of the lodge? Location, location, location!

: The lodge is over a 2-hour drive from Hendersonville. Staying there would mean a long drive back after the movie on Saturday night and then another long drive on Sunday morning to Chimney Rock Park. By staying in Hendersonville on Saturday night, well cut out a lot of driving time. Not only will we have a short drive to the hotel after the movie, but also a relatively short drive to Chimney Rock Park on Sunday morning.

: If youre interested in staying at either the Quality Inn or the lodge, here are the phone numbers:

: Hendersonville Quality Inn: (800) 581-4745. Be sure to mention that youre attending the 2000 Great Mohican Gathering. They have rooms set aside for those attending the event and are offering them at a discount rate.

: The Big Lynn Lodge: (800) 654-5232. Their rates include two meals per day so if dont plan to have any meals at the lodge, mention that youll be dining out and theyll give you a reduced rate.

: Were looking forward to seeing all of you in June.

: Best wishes,
: Goody Sandy, Pilgrim Penny and Alma

OH, Sandy! (Hello, Penny and Alma!)
Where is your sense of adventure!!! You mean you don't want to drive the back roads of North Carolina *music from the soundtrack of Deliverence here* and have the "flying dogs" chase after your car (that's what we call the wild dogs at night), see the night life of Bat Cave at 2am; have yahoos pass you by in the thickest of fogs, and then be followed by the police for miles (what are those four girls doing driving a rental car with Georgia liscense plates at 1am??? Probably up to no good....)(Mary finally pulled into someone's drive way to lose him)(it worked)(or maybe he was in a hurry to get a donut).
And of course, reading road maps when off the interstate is a challenge, when one can never tell what road one is on; as the state never lets you know what road you on and it's different on the map...And you give up all of this?????

Actually, some very good ideas; thanks for the tips. Hendersonville looked like a very nice place to check out. We're at the Creekside cabins; so we'll have the no-doze after the movie....
