Nightsky and Malcolm --

I would agree that the material was probably quite thick and "bumpy", possibly more so than some cotton. I have always been under the impression that the silk was from the former gown of Cora's, which she replaced before going into the surgery and which Hawkeye gut into a strip while in the surgery, before playing googoo eyes with Cora. But maybe that's me putting two and two and two and two together....

Cheers,

: : I am new to this site. My longhunter friends and I have always questioned Hawkeye's use of silk to patch a ball to make it go further (the scene in the fort as the couriers take off, I'm sure all of you LOTM experts know what I'm talking of)...I have never tried this, but our opinion is that silk, being slippery, would not aid in a further shot, even may make it fall short. Opinions??

: Malcolm: I'm no expert, but I would think the silk they would have at the fort would most likely be raw silk, which has a rough texture, not at all like the processed silk you're used to seeing in garments today. Just a thought. YRH
