: As a new person in this site, have to just give a few thoughts about "The Crossing"...Washington was not a swearing man!! Oh, of course, Hollywood must make him look "human"...but it is a fact that his close aides were astonished at Monmouth when he called Charles Lee a "damn poltroon". It was very much out of character for him to even use the word "damn". And, one more point, although I could make many, the Hessians were made to look like bumbling fools, proud asses. They were proud, but not so proud that it would take an officer forever to button his waistcoat while his men are trying to form up...And, forming up would have been an organized maneuver, even in the heat of battle, not the way it was shown in the film.....As for Lonesome Dove, Yes, Yes, it is the finest Western ever made....the relationship between Gus and Call is excellently portrayed...not only is Gus's death scene so poignant and touching, but also that Call would fulfill Gus's promise on the burial. That is true comradeship, something not many people experience today. Nuff of that! Pax Aye!
