: Candlelight begins to flicker across the camp and the fires are built up as visiting begins between friendly camps. A line of 4 Lenape warriors silently weave their way through the camp, those of us standing nearby become silent as we caress our long rifles and watch the warriors warily. They are dressed in only clouts and moccasins. One steps up to the fire and signs that he is hungry. I sign back to eat, good venison. He eats, leaves and several of us decide to walk up to the Fort to watch the young ones dancing by candelight on the Fort's parade ground. We hail those we know, fill our cups with ale, show a new knife or hawk which we purchased, trade stories and wind through the camp as we reaquaint ourselves with old friends: Pasquanel, the Silent One, Parson, Sly, and others which we only see once each year.
