: Those of you that have seen the trailer,
: Did anyone notice that the antagonist character named "Tavington", who is a Loyalist cammander, wears a RED uniform. From what I've read and heard about the film, the character "Tavington" is supposed to represent the historical figure Banastre Tarlton. Tarlton wore a GREEN uniform, not RED, as did almost all Loyalist regiments in the British Army. I've also heard about other inaccuracies in the film. I guess this is just another case of ignorant "Hollywood" film-makers that don't give a rip about history. But why make a "period" film about a historical event if you don't care about history!??? I guess I'll never understand.
: Brent

Brent.. the Wardrobe maker for the film was the one who won the Oscar for "Titanic".. She made the uniform, thought it was striking and it was a Redcoat..no one liked it..but it was hard to dispute a new Gold Statue winner. The British Artillery was wearing Redcoats also.. even tho in real life they wore blue.. this was explained as when they were showing counter battery fire between Continental and British Arty that they didn't want to confuse the movie going pubic because it would look like the same uniforms.. Hard to call them the "Green Dragoons" when they only had green facings..I wouldn't call them ignorant .. just taking artistic privledge.. And yes .. there were many historical inaccuracies.. I'll write them up some time for ya when I have a week or two..But to quote Micheal Mann.."I'm making a movie.. not a documentary"...That was the mind set..
