: I agree with you both on "SPR", that opening was the first time I can recall that I didnt breath for the first 25 minutes or so in fear I'd miss something (I had the same reaction all 3 times I saw it on the big screen)!

Me, too! I was plastered against the back of the seat, feeling like I was really there, and horrified at it all.

: One of my biggest complaints about "SPR" was when these guys were moving deep behind unsecured lines, & they were going on (loudly)about Hank's background (etc)...I know that when I was in the Army, on recon (even in manouvers) my squad commander would've chewed me out big time for that.

Mark has that complaint about nearly ever war film he's ever watched. He always comments that they would NEVER be walking along making that much noise...or if they did, they sure wouldn't stand a chance of getting to where they were headed. But over all, he really liked the movie.

: I think they should make the beach landing sequence mandatory viewing for 9th graders & older...as close to war as you ever want to get...

I agree...I think EVERYBODY, EVERYWHERE should see that opening sequence at some time or other. Lest we forget, and start making noises about how "glamorous" war is!
