: The backdrop of "The Last of the Mohicans," the French & Indian War, sowed the seeds for the American Revolution less than 20 years later. That, coupled with the involvement of some MohicanLand residents, makes the forthcoming film, "The Patriot," great fodder for this Site! Starring Mel Gibson, the film is very LOOSELY based on a partisan guerilla leader, Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox (for which the town I reside in was named after ... Marion, NC) ...

: Anyway, courtesy of Smoke & Fire, and our resident Vermonter, Donna, comes this little article about the filming.

Hello Rich, I'm glad you said LOOSELY... Marion was never anything like what Mel is in this film..I'm not sure how that rumour got started but .. this is definately not the story of the SwampFox, no way, no how..
Oh and People.. I found this great site..It has the original themesongs to both "The Scarecrow of Romeneny Marsh" and "The Swamp Fox" Gave Me chills listening to them.. *Smiles*. Another Disney that I loved was "Light in the Forest" James MacArther as the captive white boy returned to his family more indian than white.. and also "Johnny Tremain" I'd like to see that one again too..Here's the site for the Themes.. enjoy..
