Hi Elaine. Good to hear from you. No, not too keen on the Hanoverians. The only good thing I can say about George III is that he was a devoted husband--married over 50 years to Charlotte. Charlotte took over the reigns in 1810 after 50 years of marriage because George went nuts. I'm surprised it wasn't Charlotte that lost it--she had 15 children during her lifetime. It was George III that vetoed the 1801 proposed measure to grant Catholics the same rights and privileges of the Church of England. So, no, I'm not too keen on he or the other George's. I did enjoy the movie 'The Madness of King George' with Nigel Hawthorne and Helen Mirren. Excellent... Take care, Elaine.
: : :Right On, Lady Ann and the rest of you....sorry I didn't pick up on Boyne, but, of course, Culloden, I know well, having my ancestors Malcolm MacWilliam and Davey Gunn being part of that in 1746. The Butcher of Cumberland, German George's son, would not let aid go to those Scots who were wounded on the field. For days, he ringed the area with guards not allowing aid to go to our fallen brethern or allowing the wounded Scots to get away....They suffered for days, until he ordered English soldiers to go in and put all the wounded to death. Fie on you Stinking Willie and Fie on your whole breed. God Save the King....over the water!!
: : May God bless the Irish and Scots!!
: : Dr. Uncle...of Clan Gunn.....Aut Pax Aut Bellum!!
: Bravo, Danalee, Lady Ann, & Druncle Mark!
: You can't keep a good Celt down ...
: (I take it you're none too fond of the Hanoverian line ...)
