: : Hi there! I'm new around here, so none of you guys and gals probably
: : know me except for MMMMarcia. She's the one who sent me here. I absolutely LOVE The Last of the Mohicans, and I plan on going to the
: : Gathering this year. I would appreciate it if anyone would give me
: : suggestions on what to bring, or just to introduce yourself so I'm not
: : a total "stranger" when I get there. Thanks!

: A great, good hello, Nathan. Do not fear, it will be the first gathering for my husband and myself also. We're from the area close to the gathering, so I feel confident in saying bring good hiking shoes, plenty of clothes for warm weather, and at least one set of warm clothes should it turn rainy and cold. A good sense of humor is the only other requirement I can think of. Welcome aboard! NightSky

Hi, there, Nathan! You figured out all the buttons, I see! Glad to have you finally visiting us here in Mohicanland. Now your next post must tell folks a little bit about yourself, your family, and what it is you love about LOTM.

As for what to bring, there once was a list of suggested items on the Gathering page, but I'm not sure if it's still there. I'll add a few things, though, to Night Sky's list: camera, camping gear (since you'll be staying in a campin' cabin) to include your sleeping bags or other bedding, linens, pillows, whatever you need to be comfy there. Also, I highly recommend sunblock and a canteen for hiking. I can almost guarantee it will be hot. No...make that HOT! I've been recommending to folks to bring along a light jacket, etc, for the past two years, but I sure haven't needed one yet. I'm still waiting for that drop in temp that they say can happen in the mountains even in summer...personally, I think it's a MYTH! ;o) I would also suggest a cooler for your cabin for drinks, etc, and of course, you'll need your regular toiletries, soaps, towels, etc, for the adjacent bathhouse. If you have any "show and tell" items you'd like to share with folks, feel free to bring those along, too. Heck, just bring anything and everything you can think of & can fit in your vehicle!!! *I* did, the first time around...ask anyone!

Welcome to the Board!
MMMMarcia
