: : : : : Speaking of smuggling out "antique" colonial artifacts,
: : : : : the last time Doctor Mary visited the Proctor house
: : : : : on what remained of The Crucible set, she just happened
: : : : : to pick up an old, dull, beat-up ax head that was in
: : : : : the woods by the cabin. She wrapped it up carefully,
: : : : : put it in her luggage, and forgot about it until she
: : : : : tried to go through the security gate at Logan Airport.
: : : : : Imagine her surprise when the guard at the x-ray machine
: : : : : did a double-take when looking at her bag, and promptly
: : : : : motioned her to one side. "Oh!" Doctor Mary said, with
: : : : : her eyes wide in innocent astonishment. "I see you
: : : : : noticed my antique ax head!" After 10 minutes of fast
: : : : : talking, she was allowed to board her plane, ax head in
: : : : : tow. A snug t-shirt and wide hazel eyes plus an
: : : : : obviously addled but harmless demeanor can get one
: : : : : through anything!

: : : : Mary,
: : : : You will see another fine colonial piece at lunch today. Ask Bernice to show you.

: : : : P.S. You should answer you email sometime.

: : :
: : : Okay BillyGnome, now don't go drawing unwarranted conclusions!
: : : Clean thoughts only.....*slapping self upside head for even thinking such a thing*

: : : Well of COURSE Doc Mary was able to talk her way out of that predicament....comes as no surprise to me. If this were 1757 BC instead of AD she would be sitting on a rock at the shore, illusively enchanting, singing a sweet, alluring song....wearing a black low cut sequinned toga. And the shore around here would be littered with splintered little gnome boats and ships.

: : : As to the French Trader...well you know those french. What was it General Webb had said.......can't seem to remember. He could probably talk a bear right out of his honey though, and probably has women swooning up and down the St Lawrence, Champlain and Hudson valleys.

: : Well, you know the wool bags I`m working on? They are just large enough for a couple gnomes or lots of little gnome parts. I even think I have one JUST for you BillyGnome!!! You really shouldn`t talk about Doc M like that because it may sent me into a lustful daydream. (for you it would be a nightmare!!)

: Boys! Boys! Behave yourselves! Prospective gentleman and
: gnome callers should go through Doctor Mary's Official
: Huron Social Secretary, Cleave'em-And-Leave'em, Esq.
: Doc M does not soil her dainty hands with matters of
: commerce.

: Did Doc M overlook a missive from her Franco-snookie?
: These dratted unreliable couriers! Neither snow nor
: sleet my Aunt Fanny! And are you calling Doctor
: Mary's friend Bernice an old colonial piece? I admit
: she's a little feeble and long in the tooth, but
: she hasn't quite reached the antique stage yet!

Why Doc, I would never call any such fine lady an old colonial piece. To say the least, her mind and quick wit are such that she was able to talk from me a piece of jewelry that she wears now as I type. And Call her I did, just a few hours ago. You should have been there because a grand conversation we did have.
You asked once, what type of work I did, so you could find me a job closer to the happenings of Mohicanland and one that would not cause me to labor on holidays and weekends. I answered your question in a letter some time back and I was afraid that you did not read it or you were not impressed. Such is my luck. But had you answered, then maybe such a gift you would now own.
