Dear Malcolm,
It has been a long time since we last spoke. I have been very busy with patrols and guarding the people as they try to get in their early crops. I am sending this message with our scout, Caleb Miller letting you know that the Penna. Regt. is on their way to Fort Frederick. We are about one day's march from Fort Loudoun. We will rest there for a bit and then continue on to the colony of Maryland.
It seems that Gov. Denney wishes our Col. Weiser to converse with Maryland's Gov. Sharpe about the defenses in Maryland and also about the Indian problem. I fear though that this trip will be too much for Col. Weiser. He still suffers from a stomach ailment and is greatly fatiqued. However we still push on. I am with the flankers in the front of the column trying to ward off any possible surprise attack.
It will be so good to see all of you again as I have heard the 77th will be there as well as old friend Seamus and company. I also would like to meet Seamus's father. I hear he is quite the lady's man.
I hope this dispatch finds you well. Hope to see you shortly.
Macht Gute!
Sgt. Toot
