I was very surprised and pleased to find a message from the wife of the great-great-grandson of General Pickett. Only recently I have discovered through genealogical research that three of my great-uncles were with Pickett at the Battle of Gettysburg. They were brothers, and were born in Virginia. Their names were Charles, Elisha, and Henry Clay Doss. Charles and Elisha were wounded during the famous Pickett's Charge. Charles suffered a serious gunshot wound to his right leg. Our research shows that Elisha was also wounded by gunshot, but the records are not specific about what part of his body was injured. Near the end of the war, Henry was captured by Union troops. He was eventually sent to southwestern Ohio by his captors. When peace finally came, many members of the family moved from Virginia to join Henry in Ohio, which is where my father and I were born. We are very proud of our valiant ancestors who fought at Gettysburg. If anyone has information on Chimborazo Army Hospital, please e-mail me at the address which accompanies this message. Thank you!
