Whether or not Travis literally "drew the line" is subject to much discussion.

Considering how relatively easily couriers passed through the Mexican lines throughout the siege, it seems a FIGURATIVE line was drawn absolutely!

Certainly, the men of the Alamo faced the question, "Should I stay?" They did ... almost to a man! Based on Travis' emotional appeals to his fellow Texans OUTSIDE the Alamo, it seems reasonable to assume he did the same to the men at his command INSIDE the compound.
