Frank....thanks for the post. I live about 15 minutes from Gettysburg and have "done" the battlefield many times, but my interests have still been steered to the 18th century for the past 20 years, although as a younger man I dreamed of reenacting Civil War. Anyway, I've walked Pickett's Charge in a Confederate uniform....with my brother Uncle Davey Gunn...he also in a Confederate uniform...and it is, as they say today, awesome! I have talked with many people who have many stories of the Ghosts of Gettysburg and several people who were on the set of the movie when "things" happened....for instance, I was told by a reenactor who was in Gettysburg that filming could not be done in the Peach Orchard, because none of the equipment would work...Finally T. Turner gave up and did not shoot scenes in the Peach Orchard. Thanks for the info on Chamberlain....my favorite parts of the movie dealt with Armisted and Hancock....What a story!! Two friends on opposite sides....each time I go to the battlefield I place a proper flag at the spot where Armisted fell. Pax Aye!!
